All our members learn boating safety before they go out on the water. Regular review of safety concepts and practices is part of our formal Program. Come on in -- the water's fine! Read more about our Safety First practices here.

Welcome to the Agamenticus Yacht Club!  As you browse through the site, you'll learn about AYC’s:

  • Extensive fleet of boats available for members to use
  • Highly qualified instructional staff
  • Phenomenal junior sailing program
  • Club racing activities
  • Social calendar for the 2009 season

In 2008, we had 138 memberships across both Family and Flag categories.  This is highest total in Club history! Once again we continued to attract new member families at a record pace and our beginner classes were filled to capacity.

Our Junior Sailing Program will continue to offer the finest sailing instruction in the area to young sailors from 8 to 18, while the AYC Race Team will again successfully represent the Club at regattas up and down the New England coast.  We will be moving our Intra-Club Races on Wednesdays to Thursdays this year.  This was a very successful program that we started in 2008 as a way to introduce the fun and excitement of small boat racing to all of our sailors.

On the staff front, we are thrilled that Bess King will be returning as our Program Director.   We’re equally excited that virtually everyone is returning from our great instructor lineup from last season, along with a terrific new group of instructors in training.  Last, but not least, we are pleased to announce that Hugh Koeze, after doing such a great job coaching the Opti racers in 2008, has been hired as the race coach for both the 420 and Opti Race Teams.  Hugh has come up through our program and is a testimonial to the skills and sportsmanship that we’ve been teaching through our race program.  Hugh’s family also has deep roots in the Club since his mother; Kate is a former Junior Sailing Program instructor!

As always, we look for opportunities for adult members and families to get together on the dock, in the Harbor and on the water.

Preparing The J-22 Fleet

A small group of dedicated AYC members turned out each spring to help prepare the clubhouse, docks and fleet for the summer fun.  We started by opening the clubhouse this year on Memorial Day weekend to pull out the Opti's, launch the JY-15's, and set up the dock.  The next weekend we unwrap the (4) J-22's, paint the bottoms, and clean and wax the hulls.  The following weekend we self-launch the J-22's and step the masts.   It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun, and a critical part of making the club run smoothly in the summer.
