All our members learn boating safety before they go out on the water. Regular review of safety concepts and practices is part of our formal Program. Come on in -- the water's fine! Read more about our Safety First practices here.

Welcome to the

Agamenticus Yacht Club!

As you browse through the site, you'll learn about AYC’s:

  • Extensive fleet of boats available for members to use
  • Highly qualified instructional staff
  • Phenomenal junior sailing program
  • Club racing activities
  • Social calendar for the 2010 season

Our Junior Sailing Program continues to offer the finest sailing instruction in the area to young sailors from 8 to 18, while the AYC Race Team will again successfully represent the Club at regattas up and down the New England coast.  We will be moving our Intra-Club Races on Wednesdays to Thursdays this year.  This was a very successful program that we started in 2008 as a way to introduce the fun and excitement of small boat racing to all of our sailors.

As always, we look for opportunities for adult members and families to get together on the dock, in the Harbor and on the water.

Diamond Campaign

To address some of the more significant expenses in renewing the AYC fleet and facilities and increase the role of AYC in the York community, AYC kicked off our Diamond Capital Campaign to coincide with AYC’s 75th season in 2012. Our goal is to build on the last 70+ years and set the sails for a great course for generations to come. We plan on raising $150,000 in a fund that would generate enough income to take care of the usual annual improvements and new community activities, while allowing us to reserve for the inevitable major capital expenses.

We are using an annual pledge approach to reach our goal, with pledges of over $85,000 to date. We hope that spreading a donation over the next 4 years will allow as many member families as possible (current and past) to participate, without creating financial strains, especially in young and growing families. We truly are looking for pledges of ALL sizes. Please contact Michael Brassard, (michaelbrassard@gmail.com) and he will arrange for a pledge form to be sent to you.

Marblehead Junior

Race Week 2010

Marblehead Junior Race Week 2010 is perhaps the most challenging regatta on the AYC schedule, but once again AYC racers proved themselves up to the challenge, taking on erratic wind, ripping current and some of the east coast's most talented sailors.  They did their club proud, scoring several top 20 finishes, and showing flashes of sailing flair as they navigated their way around Marblehead's enormous trapezoid courses.

The most impressive results came from the Opti Green fleet, where AYC's newest racers recorded 5 top ten finishes. Most of all they showed indomitable spirit, refusing to give up even after disappointing results.  Marblehead certainly showed AYC's racers how far they've come, and showed them just how far they have to go to in the development of their racing skills.
